SCHEDULED LANE CLOSURES THE WEEK OF MAY 12, 2013
The contractor will continue preparation for bridge construction. Activities will require intermittent, temporary, northbound and southbound lane closures on US 1 from Turnpike Feeder Road to Oslo Road. These intermittent lane closures will take place from Monday, May 20, 2013 to Friday, May 24, 2013, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Saturday, May 25, 2013, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and no more than one northbound lane and one southbound lane on US 1 will be allowed to be closed at the same time. Note that the southbound vehicles traveling along US 1 from south of Oslo Road to Highland Drive will be using the newly constructed temporary lane (west of the existing roadway).
The contractor will continue setting up equipment in preparation for performing bridge construction and pile installation activities on Old Dixie Highway that will require intermittent, temporary, northbound and southbound lane closures. These intermittent lane closures will take place from Monday, May 20, 2013 to Saturday, May 25, 2013, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and no more than one northbound lane or one southbound lane on Old Dixie Highway will be allowed to be closed at the same time. It is anticipated that there will be a 10 to 15 minute delay for motorists during the delivery of equipment on Old Dixie Highway. Flagmen will be in place directing traffic.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be making improvements to US 1 from north of Kings Highway in St. Lucie County to south of Oslo Road in Indian River County, beginning in the fall 2012.
Improvements being made as part of this project consist of milling (removing old asphalt) and resurfacing the roadway; widening the roadway from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane roadway from south of the bridge in Indian River County to Oslo Road; new bridge construction; construction of new sidewalk on the west side of US 1 from the Cypress Bay Mobile Home Park to just south of Oslo Road and on the east side of US 1 from the south approach of the bridge to just south of Oslo Road; construction of sound walls on the west side of US 1 in front of the Cypress Bay Mobile Home Park; upgraded traffic signals at US 1 and Highland Drive; construction of three ponds; drainage; and landscaping.
This project is expected to be complete in spring 2015.

Construction activities will take place during daytime and nighttime hours. Temporary intermittent lane closures will be necessary to perform certain construction activities. Lane closures are permitted during active construction periods but no more than one northbound lane and one southbound lane on US 1 will be allowed to be closed at the same time.
There will be a detour put in place during the overhead bridge construction. A detour map will be distributed prior to the start of new bridge construction.
Access to properties located along the project corridor will be maintained at all times.
Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for construction workers in the construction zone.
The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH during construction.
